Alan (Guitar)

Alan’s interest in music began in the early 70’s with the Rock and Roll of the times. Specifically with the harder rock by artists including Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Ten Years After, The Who, Cream, and Jimi Hendrix. By 1972 all this great music had motivated him to dust off his father’s Gibson arch top, buy a Mel Bay guitar book, and spend 8 hours a day during the summer vacation learning how to play.

After a few years Alan began playing with other musicians in garage bands. His very first performance didn’t go so well. He played so badly that right after the show he was kicked out of the band. “And my girlfriend left me for the drummer that night!” More practice followed. Then more garage band stuff. Then came adulthood, and a real job, marriage, children, and night school. He put away his guitar for almost 15 years until the time had come to begin playing again.

After much practice, he began attending local blues jams. Then in 2003 he passed an audition for a spot in a local cover band named Riptide. From that day forward he has been performing in the Southern Maryland area, most recently with Tin Roof Rusted, and now, No Limits.

“No Limits is an exceptional band. These guys play tight. It is a real treat to be part of this.”
