Rob was born in Washington D.C. and grew up in the Maryland suburbs. He currently lives in Southern Maryland. It was somewhere in 1950's that drums caught his ear. The 50's and 60's were Rock n' Roll years at their fullest. "I remember focusing in on TomTom fill-ins in songs like Easier Said Than Done and A Walkin' Miracle by a group called the Essex playing out of my Dad's car on the way to Wildwood, New Jersey for vacations". Wildwood is a town that still holds on to the 50's. Surfin music became popular and drum beats in songs like Surfin' USA and Wipe Out really caught Rob's attention. "Somewhere in the early 60's I became very interested in trying to play drums like those recordings I had been hearing". To make a long story short, here is a timeline of Rob's history......
1963: Drum Lessons for two years. "Practice Pad only".
1964: The British Invasion: Beatles, Rolling Stones, etc. "That did it"!
1964: Drum Set Purchased (Gene Krupa Set - Slingerland) …"I'm Off"!
1964 - 1966: Joined local basement bands: The Barracudas, The Ekoes, and The Monarchs. I hung around a working band called the Zip Tones and learned a lot.
1966 - 1968: Joined the High School Concert & Marching Band. Formed a band called The Leftovers. (Leftover members of The Zip Tones). We started playing High School Dances and Proms.
1969: Joined a serious band named The Movus Quof. Did a lot of songs from current groups like Spirit, The Doors, Iron Butterfly & Cream. Performed a good version of Cream's drummer Ginger Baker's solo entitled Toad. A very famous 20 minute drum solo in the late 60's.
1970 - 1972: BIGGEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED!!! Joined a folk singer named Bob Brown. Richie Havens was the producer on the album we recorded in New York City's MGM Studios. We toured as first act to Richie Havens. The best thing was when we went to ENGLAND and played at The ROYAL ALBERT HALL. We were in England for five days. I went searching and found Ginger Baker's mother. (He was in Africa at the time). She had me come in for dinner and talked all about his early days for hours. It was an incredible experience. Ginger Baker is one of my many influences. (There are many more).
1972 -1974: Stayed in the Washington area and played in couple bands. One named Shaggy Dog, and the other named Hail Stone. Played a few clubs in Georgetown. (Wisconsin & M Street area).
1974 - 1976: Joined full time East Coast Bands. One was named Load Star. We played up and down the East Coast from New Jersey to Florida. Then I joined a big show band named The Ernie Fields Show. We also played the East coast and played for two months in the St. Thomas Virgin Islands at The Frenchmen's Reef (Holiday Inn). Top 40 & Disco was the thing at this time.
1976 - 1978: Four of us from The Ernie Fields Show decided to form a band of our own named Choice, (good choice). Also Top 40 & Disco. We played somewhat in the Mid-Atlantic area, but really enjoyed the Southern Maryland area. Especially The Oakwood Lodge in Piney Point.
1980 - 1983: Joined a popular Southern Maryland band named the Reivers.
1985 - 1989: Joined another Southern Maryland band named Dynasty Five.
1990 - 1997: A new Southern Maryland band was created named Desire.
2003 - ? Re-Born ….. Joined NO LIMITS BAND !!!
